The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.Information Technology Services (ITS) is DSSs technology services organization. ITS mission is to support the daily, emergent, and long-term needs of both agencies. ITS creates and enhances the technology infrastructure and computer applications that support HRA and DHS and develops applications, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment/work engagement services, revenue producing computer matches, claiming systems, and personnel systems. Information Technology Systems (ITS) is recruiting for one (1) Deputy Commissioner of IT M-V, to function as Deputy Commissioner, Server Infrastructure and Operations, who will:- Oversee all aspects of Information Technology Services in the following offices: Server Infrastructure Build, Server Infrastructure Operations, Network Infrastructure & Operations, Client Base Enterprise Services, and Datacenter Engineering. - Provide leadership for delivery of 24/7 service operations and KPI compliance by building teams and identify the expertise, talents, and passions of the Infrastructure & Operations group as a whole. - Provide vision and leadership for a team of IT professionals who are responsible for an array of information technology services. - Oversee new technologies and platforms and provide recommendations which emerging infrastructure technologies should be introduced, integrated, and assimilated within Infrastructure and Operations. - Participate in the formulation of the company's enterprise architecture and business system plans; assessing cost and feasibility, and ensuring the plan is aligned with and supports the strategic goals of the business. - Deliver oral and written reports and presentations for the purpose of educating both staff employees and Agency executive management about the IT processes, outlining the challenges and the complexities in the IT environment and providing valid solutions to overcome same.Hours/Shift:9:00AM-5:00PM
Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of progressivelymore responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using information technologyin computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systemsdevelopment, data telecommunications, database administration, planning ofdata/information processing, user services, or area networks, at least 18 months ofthis experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrativecapacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systemsprogramming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staffperforming these duties; or 2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidatesmust have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalentapproved by a State's department of education or recognized accreditingorganization and must possess at least three years of experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative orsupervisory experience as described in "1" above.
